Tonight was supposed to be the first look at Pokemon Lets Go but once again USPS Philly has failed to deliver a package within the time Amazon said they would. On top of a payment issue (I forgot to change my debit card), my 4-day long wait is turning into a life-altering 5. While perusing the forums and Reddit I was running across complaint after complaint about game after game. There is a general theme here in that it's not a lot of people, but they can be "loud".
Cognitive dissonance can help some consumers justify just about anything and one thing it really helps people with is when they don't purchase a game. I understand the feeling that it can sometimes suck not to be able to get a new game and to make yourself feel better you will start searching far and wide for reasons not to own it. This is where I believe most minute or trivial complaints gain a lot of traction.
I was going to go with Black Ops 4 but it does have some legit concerns when it comes to crashes and possible imbalances with armor and sniper rifles so we can go with Pokemon Lets Go instead. I don't have it yet and have only watched it streamed but from what I am seeing this game is being well received. Even still, you can find some examples of people ready to trash it or complain about something that they heard about in the game that has caused them to just turn away from the game.
The thing I have to remind myself when walking through the muke of the internet that those who are enjoying the game are most likely not on a forum complaining. That work is better left for nerds like myself and those that actually do it for a living.
