An aspect I absolutely love about indie games is their ability to think outside the box. They tend to be short but fun adventures and that is exactly what I found in Ty Taylor and Mario CastaƱeda creation The Bridge.
Simple Premise, Complex Puzzles
Simple is made elegant in this game and the controls are simple. The right joystick for character movement and the right and left triggers will rotate the screen. Rotating the screen will tilt the world and allowing your character to walk around all surfaces. This basic gameplay is on top of some pretty witty puzzles.
The game is a series of levels you will access through doors in a home base. You spawn on a level and have to use the controls to get to the end door. This sounds simple enough but the levels are designed on a Mobius principle. Like a Mobius strip, you can walk in one direction forever and never stop. These levels aren't infinite like a strip but have different planes you can walk on by just walking straight. This leads to some mind-bending bending puzzles.
Accompanying the unique puzzles is a sketchbook like artwork. It's as if you are playing on someone's notepad. The motions of the characters and the other objects are still fluid and nothing feels glitched or broken. It a very polished experience that takes you into a dark world with the music and flavor text that decorates the game.
The Bridge is a short but satisfying experience. This has been one of the many indie game just sitting on my PC and I am glad I loaded it off of a whim. It's one that I would recommend to anyone. If you have the Twitch app you might already have it but if not it would be one worth taking a look at if you are into the puzzle genre.
TL;DR:
The Bridge is nice short polished puzzle game that is worth a playthrough.
