Nintendo Switch Nindies Summer Showcase Summary

After puzzling through the slight discomfort of calling Scott my resident indie guy, I was well on my way into the journey that Nintendo would deliver of 15 minutes of titles I might have heard about.  Through all of the pixel art, a happy few titles stood out to me and rather then doing a play by play like I have in the past, we can go over stuff that looks solid.

Hyper Light Drifter was on my radar so much so I had to make sure it wasn't already in my Steam library.  It has now entered its cousin libraries wishlist in the Switch.  The pixel art at first is a turn-off but the smooth combat and gameplay loop looks good.  It's been reviewed well, which tells me everyone is a liar or I should give it a shot.

Bullet Age looked kind of cool to me.  It reminds me of a slower Shoot Many Robots/Metal Slug type games.  The art looked cool and the RPG aspects could make it interesting.  It's on my radar now.

Butterscotch Shenanigans have made some awesome game in the past like Crashland.  Levelhead looks like a Mario make on steroids and could be fun.  This studio makes some great games and it will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

During the barrage of titles, I saw Bastian, which is an excellent quick adventure game if you haven't played it yet.  It's from the same studio as Transistor, which I want to get into.  The Messenger is supposed to be great but the 2-D action game is new and I haven't had a chance to play it. Everything else just looked okay.

This showcase was a bit lighter than the others but it's nice to have not been crammed with title after title.  There wasn't much in here that has me too excited but the time where the Switch is short titles is over and there are a lot of indie titles now.  This has lead to other issues, which I think I'll address this Friday.
