Legacy of Discord: Furious Wings Review

Mobile games are getting more and more flashy but they are still cookie cutter.  The same freemium system where you get an in-game currency that is basically for the hundreds of things to upgrade until you reach a limit only overcome with premium currency you need to buy with cash.  Legacy of Discord: Furious Wings by Flexion Mobile is your mobile cash grab.

Well...It is a Game

Legacy of Discord is an isometric RPG where you will pick a hero and attack enemies in a world, which has lore if you are willing to read through walls of text.  The hero gets 3 attacks and one super attack, which can be leveled.  Each level is accessed through a screen with modules and after three levels can simply be conquered by hitting the auto-attack button.  Auto-attack procs all the moves and dodges enemy attacks, so after level 3, you can just stop paying attention.

The premium currency in this game is extraordinarily steep with mounts costing something like 5k of the premium currency; 5k can be bought for $50.  That's' right, $50 for a mount in a mobile game. This is a good basis for the rest of the prices.  You will get the currency for completing the quests and early on it feels like a lot but I get the feeling it will go away as it tends to always do.

This one of the games where everything seems to level up, have a star rating, and come from loot boxes that might give you what you want.  Everything in this game that looks like it might be interesting, such as more characters and cool gear, seem hidden behind this model.  Not something I am wild about and it really only works if you can get me to enjoy the game in the first place.  Something it failed to do.

Whats disjointed are the character models, which look pretty well done.  The actions are flashy and the levels vibrant.  They just sit on a game that is so boring and full of crap, it loses all its appeal.  The fact I am not actively interacting with the world around me with some type of story is just boring.

When playing these mobile games I try to give a few hours before I give my full review.  I like to get past a couple chapters so I can get a decent idea of what I am playing. This game was difficult to even get to this point.  It's not even close to engaging and I just don't know why I am supposed to care.  It is a pay-to-win pass.

TL;DR:

Legacy of Discord came out of the rinse and repeat factory that is mobile games and is definitely a pass.
