There has been a lot of grueling games coming out that just seems to beat you down. It makes sense that people are trending this way because if you make an experience too easy the game tends to get boring. Then there are games like Kirby Star Allies by HAL Laboratory for the Switch that walk a fine line and can create a game that is easy but at the same time enjoyable. A rest from the insanity if you will.
A Light Adventure

Maybe Some More Mechanics
Near the end of the game, it started to feel a bit stale. It wasn't a long but the lack of having to plan on allies you would need and the ease of the levels made it easy to put the game down. Every once in a while they would pop in a cool little mechanic like your squad would become a bridge and you had to move the team up and down to get a nonstop moving baddy carrying a key to a door. These little parts added to the game but felt too sparse.
There is quite of busy work left over after what I considered a detached boss fight. Detached because if every fight was that intense this game would have been a must buy. Still, once your heart goes down to a reasonable BPM then you are able to re-run the game with any of the characters that you encountered in a time attack mode. There is also a boss fight mode that allows you to run through a set of bosses. Both modes allow you to collect puzzle pieces and work to completing this game.
Kirby Star Allies okay game but it's hardly the standout in the franchise. It's worth playing if you are a fan but passing if you are bogged down with a gaming backlog. It's not a bad game by any means and if you need a decent co-op game you have one but this iteration isn't winning any awards.
TL;DR:
Kirby Star Allies is a fun iteration of the game if not too easy. It could do with a harder game mode or more use of the interesting little mechanics it introduces. Not a must buy.
