Hidden City Hidden Object Adventure Review

This holiday season I was traveling quite a bit and that means that I had a lot of time to play on my phone.  One of the games I took a peek at was Hidden City Hidden Object Adventure by G5 Entertainment.  I have played a few hidden object games before and it seems this one hit the same themes.

The Game:

Hidden City is your typical hidden object game.  You will have several locations that are displayed as a still portrait with various items mixed in.  You will be given a list of items displayed as words or a silhouette and a given amount of time to find these objects.  There are two items you can use to help you find items.  A spyglass will point you straight to one item and the compass will point in the general direction of items and does not go away.

There is a story and to progress in it and level up you must find all the required items in sets.  These set items come from the levels.  There are two in-game currencies that are used to unlock levels or helpful items.  Both can be purchased via real money.  The prices seemed ok.  There is also an energy system that will be used to enter levels.  The energy recharges over time.

While I was playing it there was a Christmas event that was going on so on top of the item find there was a match-three puzzle game that was used to unlock items.

My Thoughts:

As far as hidden object games Hidden City is not a bad one.  The style of game is really close to how Five-BN does theirs.  It really feels as if one company is copying off the other or this type of game is just an asset flip.

The background is pretty well drawn and the items are blended enough to make them difficult to find but at the same time, there wasn't anything that was too hard. There is a story in this game but based off of all the collecting you are doing and with the Christmas event it started to feel muddled and not so much a goal in itself but something in the game.

The game isn't ad heavy but I found the screen that asks you to buy in-game currency pops up a lot.  For the first few hours, the game does not restrict you but I am sure in time you will run into some issue.  Usually, the energy needed to do levels start to run out quickly.

If your itching for a hidden object game and you have already made it through Lost City this one can tie over a few hours or more if you don't get bored.  It's also a decent distraction when you are hungover as hell and need something casual.

TL;DR:

Hidden City is a decent hidden object game.  Nothing spectacular but a good time waster.
